When deciding what sport to use as inspiration for my activewear collection, I wanted to go with a sport that was a good fit for me and could see myself designing for in the future, if I had too. Snowboarding is the sport that appealed to me the most. The first thing that stood out to me when searching for inspiration was the silhouette. I like how the garments are not tight, but they stand away from the body. I like that it is a sport that takes place in cold weather regions because that means I can design using a lot of layers. What made this project challenging is that I had never been required to create an activewear collection and wanted my designs to still reflect my aesthetic. This challenge is what also made this project exciting because I feel like I still met these challenges successfully, and found a perfect balance between my aesthetic and the requirements that still had to be met.
These designs are to be worm by women in their late 20's to early 40's who have active lifestyles. It is for snowboarders as well as skiers , but is not limited to this group specifically. I can see all of the coats and jackets being worn in regions that have cold winters and are in need of something sporty to wear when it is cold outside.
